For a projector that comes in under $250, I was pleasantly surprised by the picture quality, especially with true native 1080p resolution. The LED light source is a great bonus over traditional halogen bulbs. While it's not the brightest, it's perfect for movies in medium-to-dark rooms and works well for its price range. It's compact and lightweight, making it easy to mount on a tripod or wall shelf. With HDMI and USB ports, it’s easy to add a Firestick or other wireless device, creating a portable all-in-one solution with just a single power cable needed. I connected a dedicated Firestick and my son can play video games through Luna on a huge screen now.
The focus adjustment works across a wide range, but the keystone correction slightly distorts the image, affecting focus. The best image quality is achieved when the keystone is centered, meaning the projector must be carefully aligned with the screen.
Positioning can be tricky, as the screen size depends on the projector's distance from the surface. You can adjust the digital zoom in the menu, but this reduces resolution by scaling down the image rather than adjusting the lens. I used a 150” screen I got from Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0878RVTKX/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and once I got it dialed in, the picture was pretty awesome.
The Bluetooth audio feature is convenient for connecting to a soundbar or headphones, though there’s a slight audio-sync delay, which can be annoying. Using an analog audio connection or routing through an HDMI receiver resolves this issue.
In conclusion, 5 stars for being affordable and fun, and doing exactly what it's meant to do.
Image quality is about the same, with the happrun actually beating out my old one considerably in noise reduction and sharpness settings. The haprun has better sharpness at the edges when I get it set up just right (see below,) but the top left and bottom left corners are still a little soft after doing everything I could to ensure a good setup. (Not a deal breaker for me.)
The fan on this happrun is half as loud as my old one, which is great.
The little hatch you can open on the bottom of the unit to easily clean the lens and screen is wonderful! I had to disassemble my old one to clean it, which meant there were often dust spots on our movie screen because it was such pita to maintain the machine. All projectors should be this easy to clean.
The lightweight design is great. Not only is it portable, the standard tripod screw hole in the bottom makes it possible to just stick this on any tripod or light stand for quick setup and takedown.
The speaker is actually loud enough to overpower the fan. I'll never use it because I use a soundbar or headphones. The speaker is tiny and sounds hollow but it'll work in a pinch of you need it.
I only use HDMI so I can't speak to other connectivity features of the device.
The one area this projector lacks in comparison to my old one is the keystoning feature. My old one offered four point digital keystone correction, while this haprun only features vertical keystone by means of a wheel. Yeah, you can use the wheel to square up your image if you can't get the projector level with your screen but I don't recommend it if you actually want to enjoy what this projector can offer. Any slight adjustment of the keystone wheel will make everything go out of focus from the center of the image to the bottom or top edge, depending on whether you're adjusting the top or bottom with the keystone. You absolute MUST get the projector level with your screen left to right because there is no horizontal keystone.
If you move the keystone wheel, you may find yourself having a devil of a time getting your image in focus again because there's no markings printed on the machine to tell you where to return the keystone wheel exactly to center. I got mine as close to perfection as possible by adjusting the focusing wheel until the edge of the image that was NOT altered by the keystone wheel was as sharp as I could get it. Then I adjusted the keystone wheel until the opposing edge of the image was in equal focus. On my copy, doing this resulted in a sharp center as well. Once the image was in focus corner to corner, I just angled the body of the actual projector to straighten the image on the wall, ignoring the keystone altogether.
To enjoy this projector most, you're gonna want to avoid using the keystone at all, which means you've got to have the projector perfectly level with the surface you project it on. I already owned a good tripod with a ball head mount that allows me to position the projector however I need to. If you don't have something to set it on or a way to mount it, you might not enjoy the image quality as much.
All in all, I'm very happy with this purchase! If you're on a budget this is a perfectly acceptable TV replacement for watching movies or cinematic shows that deserve a big screen. At this price, you really can't go wrong. You just need a way to mount it and a little knowledge on how to set it up to get the most out of it.
Oh, also, I went over to YouTube and used "projector test patterns," to get mine into focus and to help me adjust the color, brightness, and contrast. I highly recommend using those. It'll make your setup process way easier and give you a better looking image.
But any how. Very happy with this purchase!
Nice, clear picture, easy to install. I purchased the adapter for the iPhone but the new iPhones have a different plug. He was able to hook up his Bluetooth speaker as well.
I am beyond impressed with the HAPPRUN H1 Native 1080P Projector! From the crisp, high-quality resolution to the versatility in usage, this projector has exceeded all my expectations.
Picture Quality: The 1080P Full HD resolution is outstanding, delivering sharp, vibrant, and detailed images that truly make movie nights feel like you're at the cinema. The brightness and 10,000:1 contrast ratio enhance every scene, even in low-light conditions.
Sound: The built-in HiFi stereo speakers are excellent, but the Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity takes it to the next level. Pairing with my soundbar was a breeze, and the audio experience was immersive and crystal clear.
Ease of Use: Setup was a snap! I love the plug-and-play feature, and the wired connection ensures stable playback, especially for outdoor use where WiFi may not be available. Perfect for garden parties or camping trips.
Versatility: The adjustable projection size and keystone correction make it suitable for any room or outdoor setting. Whether it's a cozy 47-inch display or a massive 200-inch screen for outdoor movies, this projector delivers flawlessly.
Compatibility: It works seamlessly with my Fire TV Stick, laptop, and gaming consoles. Having multiple ports makes it super flexible for different setups.
If you're looking for an affordable, portable, and high-quality projector for home and outdoor entertainment, this is it! It’s an incredible value for what it offers. Don't hesitate—this little powerhouse is a game-changer! 🎥🍿
Really very immersive
Let's start with the fact that the projector is of average build quality But, for this price, it's better than expected. During operation, it doesn't make a very loud noise and it's not bothersome. After turning it on, adjusting the focus and tilt is not that difficult. if you plan to have the projector elevated, focusing on all corners of the screen will be a bit more challenging, As for when it's placed directly in front, the focus is relatively better. I didn't expect the image to be viewable in a moderately lit room,
However, I was mistaken – it handles moderate lighting in the room quite well, and in a darkened room, the brightness is enough for a pleasant viewing experience. As for the speaker and its sound quality, it's average. For a fully immersive movie experience, you'll need an external audio system or speakers. The projector has a quite high-quality, clear image and good color reproduction, You can achieve better results than what you get straight out of the box if you slightly adjust the image settings and perform proper calibration. I want to say that it's an excellent purchase for the family. Overall, I want to say that At this price, it's an excellent choice for a home cinema setup. The projector also comes with a maintenance kit.
I would also like to give you a few small recommendations to ensure you enjoy the projector for a long time:
1. It is not recommended to use the projector for extended periods of time. After 4-6 hours of use, it is advised to turn it off and let it cool down for a while.
2.Do not operate the projector in a hot environment or near a heating source. The room or space where the projector is used should be well-ventilated.
3.The air intake and exhaust ports should not be covered.
4.The projector has a cover and dust filter on the lower left side, which needs periodic cleaning to prevent it from getting covered and blocking the airflow. Cleaning it once or twice a month is usually sufficient.
5.If dust particles still manage to get inside, the inner lens, located behind the lower cover, can be cleaned with the dust-removal swabs included in the maintenance kit.
6.Do not place the projector in an enclosed space; there should be free airflow around it.
Taking all of this into account, you will be able to enjoy this device for a longer period. I wish you a pleasant home theater experience!
Plus great customer service from the seller when I lost my remote!
Saying that, this projector is nice. It is brighter than my old one so I ended up buying 2. It is not only bright, the colors pop!
The screen is so clean looking, granted, I do have an actual screen. For this price, I am very impressed. I added my firestick and it looks great!
Enjoy!
Pros:
- Picture Quality: Very clear image for the size, I have mine about 15 feet away from a 100” screen and it fills it up with a near HD quality image. It also has an adjustable zoom if you want to make it larger or smaller.
- Portability: it is very small and light, and can be easily moved around, perfect for camping or backyard use.
- Sound: The speakers are very usable, but I would connect it to a Bluetooth speaker which is very easy to do. Also the fan noise is not bad at all, I was sitting right next to it and barely noticed the fan noise at all.
Sorta Cons:
- Connectivity: I tried plugging my phone into it to mirror my screen, which works for things like YouTube videos or camera roll pics/videos. But it is not compatible with streaming services like Netflix or YouTube TV. So I just plugged in a Roku and everything worked fine.
- Daytime viewing: it’s definitely not bright enough to be enjoyable either in a bright room or outside during the day. It needs to be very dark for the image to be usable.
Basically, this projector is perfect for backyard movie nights, or a cheap home theater option. I would upgrade to a brighter option if you want to use it during the day or want a top of the line image quality. This isn’t that but it’s pretty good. Overall it’s incredible for the price.
The Happrun projector is very affordable, easy to use, and works amazingly well for how much it costs. The product’s customer support team is also very professional, courteous, and extremely helpful. I reached out to them because the screen was not in the box when I received the item and a representative replied to me right away to explain that it no longer comes with their new model. They decided to give me a small discount on my purchase since it was not clear in the product description that the part is not longer included in the package.
I am impressed on how good the picture looks even in not so ideal light conditions and the projector sound is okay for most movies and shows as well.
I do recommend having a streaming device like the fire stick plugged into it or purchasing a separate HDMI adapter for it to work with your phone since the adapter is not included in the package either. Once you have the proper accessories, however, it is very easy to connect them to the projector.
You might also want to connect a Bluetooth speaker to it if you are using the projector outdoors or a in an area that is noisy. Otherwise, you should be just fine with the built in speakers in a quieter room.
Overall, it has been a great purchase for me and my family. We are really enjoying our new projector and recommend it for anyone who is looking for an affordable entertainment option for their home.
If you're obsessed with perfect picture quality you can surely find better elsewhere, but only if you're comfortable paying ten times the price and likely getting something louder. The picture is really good, the mechanical keystone correction is good enough (although I wish there was also a digital keystone for more extreme angles and for horizontal correction), it's surprisingly bright, and the built-in speakers are good for my purposes. The remote control works well, and it's multi-voltage meaning it works on 110V and 220V.
I have it on a projector stand behind the headboard of my bed, and the stand costed more than the projector itself. Projecting onto an angled ceiling, the keystone doesn't work as well as I would hope and the somewhat further distance means a little bit of clarity is lost around the edges of the picture, but it produces a large picture that is as bright and clear as I had hoped for, and the noise of the fan is so limited that the built-in speaker hides it even when it's right over my head.
As far as extra features, there aren't a ton. You will need to connect to a device using an HDMI cord (a normal HDMI-to-HDMI cord is provided), but a simple extra purchase of an HDMI-to-USB-C cord for my Android smartphone worked perfect for me, and is cheaper and more versatile than a Fire Stick or even a Raspberry Pi running Kodi (which does not have a web browser, meaning you're stuck with only the services that have functioning plugins). Check the specifics on how your smartphone exports to HDMI. As I said, the built-in speakers work fine for my purposes, but it does support Bluetooth connection for audio output devices (and audio output devices only) or you can run a wire to any other speaker.
I haven't used it a ton yet, would like to test it some more and get some pictures of it in action, and I will update my review if any problems arise, but so far I'm extremely pleased with this purchase. For the $60-$70 I paid while this was on sale, having a projector to just toy around with is awesome.
The brightness is about 325ANSI lumens, not going by a tester but I've had a LOT of projectors.
The single most impressive thing about this projector to me, is the extremely accurate and clear optics. This thing makes a square, and the focus is flawless from center to every edge. There is simply no distortion at all. There's also no detectable input latency so it's great for games. Given that it's only 60hz this of course means that the per frame latency (time between frames) is 16.6ms. It feels great to game on.
The colors are a little washed out given the LED behind an LCD, they tuned it for a little more brightness. However, they are shockingly accurate and you can crank the settings a bit to tune them. People skin tone is dead on, and the white balance looks excellent.
The speaker is surprisingly decent to listen to. It reminds me of the big powerful mono speaker you may have heard in a classic RCA CRT TV. There's certainly an emphasis on mid ranges, but it's not overly plasticy and doesn't resonate. It's like watching an older TV. Back before they lost all their body when they became 2 inches thick.
There's a small intake filter that you will need to vacuum clean fairly often or risk roasting the LCD if it gets too plugged with dust. As soon as I saw that filter I realized it was a vain attempt to keep dust out of the light engine and I knew then there's no way it had a sealed one. Indeed, this is the downfall of this device. Don't get me wrong, I still give it 5 stars, but be fully aware that this thing will fill with dust on the LCD, Mirror, and optics. It _WILL_ become a starfield of both bright and dark dots, though they are so far fairly easy to ignore. Expect to have to open this once in a while and blow them out. Do NOT touch any of the aforementioned parts unless you know exactly what you're doing and what you're touching them with.
I've had this for less than a month so far and there's thousands of specs inside of it on all surfaces. It's not at a point where I feel the need to clean it inside, but I will likely do so on a schedule of 2 months. I don't want the LCD overheating and yellowing either so I check the filter and clean that weekly.
So TLDR;
Amazing projection quality. Computer monitor level clarity from edge to edge, decent brightness, pretty good sound, excellent price, NON sealed light engine that will eventually fill with dust.
After diving deep into learning all about the best projector and what lumens we would need to ensure we would be able to watch tv during the day. I stumbled across this projector which was about $60 with the coupon going on at the time. It came with a screen but I also looked into a screen that we could mount to the ceiling which was $100. I was truly blown away. I could have a screen that was 100 inches (bigger than the tv we were even looking at) for $160 which was so cheap!! I talked to my partner and we decided to try it out.
We read the reviews on this projector and knew we would probably have to by a sound bar to increase the sound quality. Once we got the projector and screen delivered we set everything up that night. The sound is not bad at all. We still want to by a sound bar at some point but it’s truly not necessary the sound is pretty good. I am so so happy we decided to go this route. We love watching movies and shows. The picture is very good day or night. We have hosted our friends for ufc fights and everyone has loved it and thought it was great picture. I cannot say enough great things about this projector. My brother said he is going to purchase one after seeing ours set up. It’s light and small so it sits on our shelves above our couch very easily. I guess the one negative comment I will say about it is that I personally wish the power cord was just a little longer so it would reach to behind our couch. It is about 4 feet or so. It’s not insanely short and not a huge deal. We have an extension cord to run it to the outlet. I’ve had it was about two months and have no issues.
If you’re looking at buying a projector, buy this one. You cannot beat it for the price!
The main negative is the limitation of the optics. The focus adjustment works well for a good range of distance, but the keystone adjustment is unusable as it slightly tilts the image behind the lens. This technically corrects the edge alignment, but also causes the focal range to be ineffective. The only way to focus the entire image is to keep the keystone adjustment right in the center. That also means the projector itself needs to be as close to perfectly centered on your screen or surface you're projecting to.
Also, because the size of the screen is directky related to the distance of the projector to your screen, it can make ideal positioning very tricky. Technically the projector menu allows for a digital zoom adjust, which can shrink the image within the max dimensions - so you could have the projector back further and use a smaller screen. But what this does is lose resolution of your image, scaling it down digitally rather than optically with the lens.
Lastly, the projector has Bluetooth capability for audio, so you can use a sound bar or earbuds, etc. This is pretty easy to set up and works well, but the audio to video sync is off by more than 200ms which at least with Chromecast is the max adjustment. So lip sync is off enough to be slightly annoying. Using a standard analog stereo mini jack to a speaker system, or routing your HDMI through a receiver first pretty much eliminates this issue so it really only affects Bluetooth audio and may not even be noticeable by everyone.
Overall, I'm really happy with this purchase! For $50 it's an incredible value. If it were $100+, I might be less impressed. But really this is a super fun and affordable projector perfect for outdoor movie nights or other creative uses like rear projected Halloween FX, etc.
I set this up on my screened in patio and have enjoyed watching YouTube and movies at night on a big screen. The included 100" screen is better than nothing, but is a very stretchy soft fabric which creates a slightly softer and dimmer image due to being somewhat thin for rear projection use too. I ended up using a smaller 88" pull down projection screen with a nice flat and opaque material which reflects light back brighter than the fabric.
In conclusion, 5 stars because it does exactly what it's supposed to do and was super cheap. I would not recommend this for a proper home theater installation, but as a audio/videophile, I really like it for what it is.
It's bright, in a good way. I am projecting on a white ceiling above my bed. Why sit on the couch when you can lie back and watch a movie? The colors are bright and clear. I have the settings picture mode MILD, color temperature MEDIUM, and noise reduction OFF.
Even with a table lamp on it's still plenty bright but it's better to turn off all lights to cut down on other light reflection
The remote works well but you'll need two AAA batteries as they don't come with it
The unit is compact, very sturdy well-built
Watching movies was as good as my laptop but way bigger on the ceiling. I would say comparable to lower-end big TV
It does have some fan noise but extremely reasonable if you're not sitting on top of it
You get a lot more bang for your buck than your expected.
Marketing versus reality: (issues with all manufacturers)
Pretty much all the video projectors quote ridiculously high numbers as to their lumens or brightness. Read the reviews they're much more realistic than the manufacturer's descriptions
Showing people with their smartphone mirroring content... The reality is you cannot mirror Netflix or apple TV etc to projectors. They don't want you to become the neighborhood movie theater.
I use my laptop and a long HDMI cable and I can watch anything I want
Support 4K- notice it doesn't say projects 4K because it doesn't. That would cost you a couple of thousand dollars. even saying it projects 1920*1080 might be pushing it... Since the reviews I watched showed the HAPPRUN had better resolution than many of the competitors I agree
THE CONS:
If you're looking at text, from a website you will notice out-of-focus areas and it's somewhat difficult with the focus wheel to get that dialed in exactly. It's not an issue when you are watching a movie but around the edges can be out of focus no matter how much you fiddle.
±15° Keystone Correction... Keystone or deskewing allows you to adjust angles when viewing on a screen that may be higher than the actual projector or in my case on the ceiling. The Keystone on the HAPPRUN is very limited. And I must say my older projector had better Keystone. The top screen goes off your projector area when the bottom fits in with room to spare. key adjust that somewhat. Keep in mind it's under a $100
Color Black - the colors are very Vivid but the blacks tend to take on darkness all to their own. This creates a really Vivid contrast but as an example, if a newscaster is wearing a black shirt with black buttons the buttons pretty much disappear. This oversaturation of black might be corrected by changing the contrast but I got used to it pretty quickly
I'd first studied some reviews on YouTube and came across HAPPRUN which beat out 12 other video projectors... got third place for great projectors under $100. I had an Auking video projector for 4 years and used it every night but was not bright like the HAPPRUN
